Our Dorms

We currently have 4 dorm rooms available (a 6 bed dorm and three 4 bed dorms). All dorms have unique shared outdoor bathroom facilities and they are complete with bunk beds, fans, mosquito nets and storage spaces. The buildings have been finished in a rustic style and there is a focus on the surrounding vegetation.

Our Private Rooms

We have 2 private bungalows available, which are fitted with a very comfortable queen sized bed, mosquito net and a fan. The bungalows also have a a private balcony, some storage space and a glamorous attached outdoor bathroom. The buildings have been finished in a conformable, rustic style and there is a focus on the use of natural materials, which fits in well with the existing old buildings and the surrounding landscape. These beautifully finished bungalows have nice decor and are perfect for couples or solo travellers who want a bit more privacy and comfort.

Chill Out Area

The property is beachside and there is ample open space to relax in the shade out the back, or chill on the beach out the front.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get there?

We are located about 500m from Galle Rd, where you can find the Walgama Bus Stop. You can travel from here to just about anywhere on the South Coast via bus. You can also hire tuk tuks very easily and it's about 300LKR to Matara (where there is a bus station that services all of Sri Lanka) and about 500LKR to Mirissa. There is also the Matara train station located about 3kms away from us. If coming from Colombo, we recommend getting the highway bus to Matara as these buses run constantly all day (from 6am – 8:30pm). There are 3 main places to get this bus from (depending on what location suites you best) and they are Pettah, Kaduwela, or Maharagama. The bus trip is approximately 2.5 hours. If coming from the airport, we recommend getting the highway bus from there straight to Matara, however there are only 2 buses daily, so you may prefer to get a taxi/tuk tuk to Colombo and then getting the highway bus from there. Or alternatively, if you are not in a rush and you want to see some sights, then the train from Colombo to Matara is the way to go. It is cheaper and takes longer, but it is fun.

Can you assist with transfers?

Yes, we have partnered with a few drivers that can get you basically anywhere on the island and they are very reliable. Please give us a bit of notice if you do require a transfer, because these guys can get pretty busy in the peak season.

Can I surf in Madiha?

Yes, the waves in the area are great and there are 3 breaks within a short walking distance from The Doctor’s House.
